Maple Lofts

Location: Sellersville, PA

Client: Ethan Matthew, LLC

Date Completed: 2024

The Otto Eisenlohr and Bros. Cigar Factory building in Sellertown, PA, is a testament to the multifaceted history a single building may possess. Originally built around 1892 as one of several PA factories for Eisenlohr and Bros., a cigar manufacturing giant, the building was later home to a publisher of a nationally recognized magazine about poultry breeding, two pharmaceutical companies, and a series of sporting goods manufacturers.

Now, thanks to the vision of our client, the Eisenlohr and Bros. building is starting a new chapter as a mixed-use property, 35 Maple Lofts. Featuring ground-level retail space and 10 apartments, the new incarnation of this former factory preserves many elements of the original architecture while updating the building for modern comfort and utility. Artefact was brought on to design the adaptive reuse project as well as assist with securing historic tax credits and nominating the property for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places.
