Freemansburg Locktender’s House

Restoring a treasured remnant of regional history

Location: Freemansburg, PA

Client: Borough of Freemansburg

Date Completed: 2017

Artefact was selected to design exterior renovations and stabilization measures for this 1829 cut-stone locktender’s house at Lock 44 of the Lehigh Canal in Freemansburg, PA. Our work included the design of a new roof, deck, and ramp as well as exterior masonry repair. Working with the Old Freemansburg Association, we helped prepare documents to secure a County grant to fund the renovation.
