Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse Museum

Restoring a prized example of Ashlar stone masonry

Location: Lower Saucon Township, PA

Client: Lower Saucon Historical Society

Artefact was selected to design and coordinate the restoration of the 1880 Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse, a National Register property, and its conversion into a museum for the Lower Saucon Historical Society. Our work, which included repairs to the windows, masonry, roof, and cupola, highlights the fine artisanship of the original building, most clearly demonstrated in the pattern of its stonework.
