Armstrong House is a late-eighteenth-century property at Cheyney University, America’s oldest historically black institution of higher education. A historic home rumored to have served as an Underground Railroad station during the Civil War, the building was in need of extensive restoration due to years of abandonment. As partner-in-charge in a joint venture with C. F. Portner Architects, Artefact conducted historical research on the property and developed a design for restoration that would return the house to its historic appearance. The restored building now serves as a conference center.
