Bringing Beaux Arts grandeur to modern living

Location: Easton, PA

Client: VM Development

Year Completed: 2025

This adaptive reuse project transformed an underutilized office building, originally the Northampton Bank Building, into a mixed-use residential property with 32 new apartments and a district court office remaining on the ground floor. The renovations preserved and restored several Beaux Arts details from the original 1908 structure that had been obscured during past renovations. In the lobby, the dropped acoustic tile ceiling was removed and original full-height plaster ceilings restored; original finishes and decorative features were refinished or repainted; and in the upper floors, original hardwood floors and wood trim detailing were uncovered and refinished.

Investigating the condition of the lobby floors during the renovation yielded a thrilling discovery: the original mosaic tilework from the Northampton Bank Building remained perfectly intact beneath the existing carpet The team removed the carpeting to reveal the historic bank logo and Greek key pattern border.
