Trolley Barn Public Market
Transforming a historic trolley barn into a bustling cultural hub
Location: Quakertown, PA
Client: Rail Area Redevelopment Project
Date Completed: 2021
Quakertown’s 1897 trolley barn was one stop on the Liberty Bell Limited line that linked Allentown to Philadelphia and was an important regional repair and maintenance shed for trolley cars. After the termination of trolley service in the early 1950s, the building saw intermittent commercial use. In addition to renovating the building as a year-round public market and community gathering space, Artefact also provided design for the stalls of several market vendors. Today, the Trolley Barn Market is a popular destination for shopping, dining, and recreation.
